Mind Control is the sci-fi puzzle/platformer for mobile that sees you propel your disembodied brain through 25 handcrafted levels solving devilish puzzles and traversing dozens of traps and trials. Unravel the mysteries of a strange alien facility to be reunited with your lost body and find your way home.
Mind Control was a solo development effort undertaken over an 18 month period. Just some of the aspects of Mind Control's development that I was responsible for include; game design, level design, coding, game art, graphic design, UI/UX design, SFX implementation, story/writing, marketing, social media presence, web development etc. The music in Mind Control was sourced from soundimage.org and many thanks for Eric Matyas for his awesome open source work.
I am incredibly proud of the final version of Mind Control that I managed to produce and launch. The process was invaluable especially in developing my experience with marketing and digital distribution, testing/QA, promotion and game architecture design. It was also my first attempt at producing release quality game art and while the outcome was never going to be world class, I am very happy with the level of aesthetic appeal and artistic consistency that I achieved. There are a great deal of lessons that I learnt during the production of Mind Control and many that I intend to put into action immediately and in my future projects, namely; monetization strategy, promotional strategy, demographic targeting etc. However I will always look back fondly on my time developing Mind Control as it taught me many new things about the game design and development process.
Mind Control was my first commercially released title and went live on September 20, 2017 on iOS and Android. The end product was incredibly stable and had no major bugs or issues to my knowledge. Mind Control is currently live and free to download on the App Store and Google Play. Are you a member of the press? Get the press kit here.
